THE MEKONG DAM :
On April 22nd 2011, the first hydroelectric dam project on lower Mekong mainstream in Laos has been delayed. The concern about human and environmental impact raised mainly by Vietnam and Cambodia forced the Mekong River Commission to defer and elevate the final decision to the ministerial level with a meeting scheduled in october this year. The Mekong river still flows freely but its future is not yet decided.
