Acid shops at Muzzafar Garh, Pakistan-2009
In the south of Punjab province, coton fields strech as far as the eye can see. To fertilize seeds, farmers use sulfuric acid. Jamshaid Sindhoo, Executive Director of Agriculture at Muzzafar Garh explains : « Around Muzzafar Garh, 600 000 ares of coton grow. All you need is a plastic pipe to mix acid and seeds. You shake : the seed is treated and you are able to plant and cultivate cotton. Who owns land can cultivate coton, it's an individual crop as well. This is why acid is so easily available. »-2009
